Performance

The 2013 API Growth scores, released in August 2013, are based on tests students took that spring (2013). The scores determine whether or not California schools met their growth targets set from 2012 Base scores released in spring 2013. To meet its growth target, a school and each of its numerically significant student subgroups must improve their performance each year by 5% of the difference between their API and the statewide target of 800 (with certain exceptions).

Note: California is overhauling its student testing and school accountability systems. To learn more, see Changes to California's K-12 Education System.

Schools that use the Alternative Schools Accountability Model (ASAM), such as community day, continuation, opportunity, county community, county court, and California Youth Authority, do not have growth targets.
